Battleford's Excursions

Battleford is nestled between the banks of the scenic North Saskatchewan and Battle Rivers and offers an abundance of recreation opportunities.

Finlayson Island

Finlayson Island provides residents and visitors a chance to see nature in its full bloom as well as year-round activities from cross-country skiing and walking trails to fishing and picnicking.

Table Mountain

Approximately 60,000 skier visits each season are a testament to the outstanding facilities at Table Mountain.

Table Mountain was the first ski area in Saskatchewan to install a quad chairlift and it continues to be a leader in alpine recreational facilities in Saskatchewan.

Snowboarders can experience the thrill of a half pipe, quarter pipe, rollers, and spines, rails and table tops on the lower half of the mountain.
Besides the 2,000-foot quad chairlift, a T-bar and two handle tows provide speedy access to a variety of ski runs from novice to expert.
Table Mountain’s treed terrain offers a large number of well defined runs as well as offering protection from the wind.
A tubing park includes a lift and three runs to supply excitement for all ages.
Rentals are no problem with 1200 rentals to chose from. The pro shop has a variety of ski and snowboard accessories.

Certified ski and snowboard instructors are available for all abilities.
A modern chalet and licensed lounge provide a relaxing atmosphere for a cup of coffee, a full meal or an après-ski drink.

Located about 26 kilometres northwest of The Battlefords, Table Mountain is open seven-days-a-week from January to March as well as every Wednesday and Friday night.

Battlefords Provincial Park

Relaxation comes naturally at Battlefords Provincial Park.

The park, consisting of rolling hills and wooded areas, is situated on the shores of Jackfish Lake, a 30-minute drive from The Battlefords.
Family recreation is the cornerstone of the park’s large, lush green lawns, top-rated golf course, modern campsites, beautiful beach, and playground area.
The park offers 317 individual campsites, 165 of these are electrified. In addition, eight group campgrounds are available.
All campgrounds are within walking distance of the lake, a store, shower, laundry facilities, golf course, concession, picnic sites, and a large white-sand beach.

The park’s recreational activities are lead by a first-class 18-hole golf course located along the shoreline of Jackfish Lake. For those who like a short game, a miniature golf course is available.
For water enthusiasts, the park has something for everyone from swimming, fishing and boating to water skiing. Rentals are available for all activities.
Other recreational opportunities include horseshoes, trampolines, organized children’s activities, hiking and cycling. In the winter, more than 25 kilometres of marked and groomed cross-country ski trails are offered.
The park also has a number of regular events such as beach volleyball tournaments, Canada Day celebrations, Parks Week activities in mid-July, Family Fun Day on the August long weekend, a triathlon and a mid-winter cross-country ski loppet.
No wonder the Battlefords Provincial Park is an ideal location in any season.
